The documentation of civilization ornaments dates thousands of years ago. Although styles and designs for jewelry may differ from other people. Natives also help in common a certain belief that ornaments had also their spiritual meaning. In history, jewelries would reflect social and religious customs of unique groups. Tribal jewelries were considered as contact with helpful spirits and a type of medicine.

These cultures are believed to have the essence of wearer absorbed in the bones.

Once the wearer dies, the carved piece will be passed on the next wearer and benefits from the bone. Any old carving bone is usually the color of honey. When making jewelries, carvers choose materials for their magical or spiritual qualities. Most of the hunters and other tribes would adorn themselves with animal parts and bones to gain strength and protection from the animal's spirit.

Although these jewelries had a great spiritual meaning, some indicate your status in life ans some simply worn for body decoration. The belief is when a carving changes owner, the spiritual energy may also strengthen the new wearer. The important achievements of every owner have become more valuable.

Bones of humans, dogs, whales and birds were mostly the materials in most traditional carvings apart from shells. These materials serve a great purpose like the size, shape and strength. Highly treasures such as whalebones are used for size and density as they represent the God of sea. Today, beef bones are being used for many carved pendants.

Smoking with honey and leaves will also result in color variations that may enhance the natural textures in most carved jewelries. Dome of the carvers may also reach the color nuances using different types of bones. There are also other sources such as goat horns, pig tusks and deer antlers used.

Most carvings combine elements from various areas of mythology which can interact with each other to tell a story. Most of these give most carvings its own special character. These creations have great respect for nature and have lots of legends about the creation of earth and all inhabitants. The meanings of these elements may vary from region to region b sharing common roots.
